Our Story

Tousle is owned and operated by Kim Van Tassel, a licensed cosmetologist with over 15 years of experience. With a vision and a drive to start a salon where her clients could come, relax and leave feeling their best, she started Tousle in February 2010, bringing with her some of the best and brightest stylists in the industry.

As a lifelong resident of Seattle, Kim decided on the fast growing Wallingford district for its convenience and upbeat community.

Our Stylists

Name   Bio
Kim Van Tassel :: Owner/Stylist/21 years experience/Specializes in color, highlighting and color correction.
Jackie Loyola :: Stylist/15 years experience/Color specialist - I love tailoring a clients style with their lifestyle. Cutting long and modern layers or short and stylish with everything in between. Multidimensional color is my favorite. Adding a few highlights and lowlights just to show off the shape of a haircut. For my clients with unruly frizzy hair or waves they want to smooth out. I can customize a smoothing treatment just for you.
Michelle Higley :: Stylist/24 years experience
Zan Schmidt :: Stylist/16 years experience
Teshan Laucirica :: Stylist/11 years experience/stylist/color specialist - I love building a rapport with my clients, and helping them look and feel their best in styles that work with their hair for ease and maintenence, whether it's curly, straight, thick, fine, long or short. I love all the colors- fun, bright, funky colors, grey coverage, highlights, color corrections, ombre, we can get wildly creative, or create very natural looking locks.
Amanda Conaway :: Stylist/16 years experience/stylist/Specializing in Custom Ammonia Free color, Balayage (hombre technique included), and foiling. Works well with indecisive clients as well as with those who bring in inspiration photos. "I love hair color and making people feel their absolute best!" ::Online Booking::
Melany Hughes :: Stylist/12 years experience/stylist/dimensional color, balayage/ombré, women's, men's and children's cuts/styling, smoothing treatments and special event hair styling.::Online Booking::
Fay Rigi :: Stylist/27 years experience/
Viola Luu :: Stylist/13 years experience /she has extensive training in color and cutting for all hair types. To keep up on trends and to stay inspired she often travels to NYC, LA and Vegas for advanced training and hair shows. She loves using her razor to create texture and movement but understands when it is necessary to create a more structured look with her shears. Creativity in color is all about placement sometimes less is more. She admits bold colors are fun but her love is for naturally sun kissed highlights for any hair color. ::Online Booking::
Gretchen Michels :: Stylist/33 years experience /" WHERE ART MEETS SCIENCE " I love the technical work and color is my specialty. My philosophy has always been to provide quality hair services that are affordable. I enjoy working in a casual atmosphere and want my clients to feel comfortable when visiting the salon. My goal is to work with you to keep your hair healthy and your hairstyle up to date and easy to manage. I consider myself as a technician rather than a stylist. I decided after many years in the business that although it is good to learn about new styles and trends, for me, educating myself and practicing what I love, is best. Building a relationship with my clients is very important to me. Not only for the obvious reason of knowing their hair history but also for the enjoyable conversations and life experiences we get to share. I do my best to have good communication in order to make my client happy. It is important for me to love my work and be proud of my work so bear with me if I seem a little bit of a perfectionist.
Bill Bates :: Stylist/15 years experience
Bailey Peizer :: Stylist/10 years experience/
Serrana Ennaro :: Stylist/16 years experience/
